At last year’s Behavioral Health and Tobacco Summit, one of the five key recommendations was to provide training around evidence-based, stage-matched tobacco treatment to all behavioral healthcare staff. This webinar, hosted by the statewide Behavioral Health and Tobacco Workgroup, will introduce the approach and kick off a year of learning opportunities for staff in many settings and roles. Traditionally, tobacco treatment has been framed as only appropriate for people who are ready to quit, but there are flexible options available to help everyone who smokes or vapes reach their goals, even if they are not ready to reduce use or quit. Tobacco treatment can help people avoid uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms, engage in day-to-day activities, save money, follow residential or workplace policies, and reach other goals. Join us to learn more about how you can match tobacco treatment medications and counseling approaches to a person’s specific stage of change.
